Fear is an enemy that holds us back from obeying God. We worry whether God will come through for us, whether God is as good as He says He is, and our circumstances can loom large. Today we’re unpacking the story of Peter walking on water, looking at how Jesus calls Peter to do something impossible. Jesus is the one who gives us faith to be courageous. But as Peter looks at the wind and the waves, he begins to fear, and he falls. Jesus is calling us to look to Him this morning. To renew our confidence in Him, and as we do, our fears will shrink, and we’ll start to become the courageous family that He is calling us to be!

Matthew 14:28–33 (Listen)
28 And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind,1 he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
