The Christian teaching on sexuality has come under a lot of scrutiny in recent years, with our western culture viewing it as outdated or even potentially harmful. We want to take a look at what God actually says about sex and explore His grand design for our sexuality. Whether you are single or married, gay, straight, or other God has a plan for your life. He promises us that if we put Him first, we will never ultimately be left disappointed. If we allow ourselves to get caught up in His story, we will find that we have both a cross to carry but also rich blessings to be received as His plans for us are good!

Genesis 1:26–28 (Listen)

26 Then God said, “Let us make man1 in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27   So God created man in his own image,
    in the image of God he created him;
    male and female he created them.

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

[1] 1:26 The Hebrew word for man (adam) is the generic term for mankind and becomes the proper name Adam

Genesis 2:21–24 (Listen)

21 So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made1 into a woman and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said,

  “This at last is bone of my bones
    and flesh of my flesh;
  she shall be called Woman,
    because she was taken out of Man.”2

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
